Windsor has been home to Cashie Baptist since 1770. This historic town is the seat of Bertie County, an area well known for its picturesque back roads, large tracts of farmland, abundant wildlife, and winding rivers. Despite all the natural beauty found in our community, we believe that our most important resource is the people with whom we share it.
Our love for our community has led our Baptist Men’s group to develop a handyman service for families and individuals in need. This group has also formed a disaster response unit and is equipped with a trailer to meet the needs of victims of natural disasters both near and far.
Several new outreach efforts have been launched. First is a work begun in our local public schools. This effort supports teachers with tutors from our congregation. Several volunteers with public school experience will work with teachers to identify needy students and connect them with a tutor. We hope to share the love and light of Christ through this important new ministry. Our church has also partnered with the local high school chorus to support them through hosting of community concerts. 2013 was the first year that our church had a community Christmas meal. Our church prepared over 250 meals and proviced them to those in need in the community.
Cashie seeks to show compassion to older adults in our community. Many of our Sunday school classes and small groups maintain a strong relationship with local nursing homes and long-term care facilities through regular visits and events.
Here at Cashie we love to support families and foster healthy homes. Therefore we are working to provide family-friendly events that promote family togetherness and spiritual growth. Events include day trips to see local attractions, block parties, community projects, and outreach. Over the years we have enjoyed trips to a pumpkin patch in the fall, a winter carnival in the fellowship hall, an easter egg hunt at Hope Plantation, and an outreach baseball camp at Davis Park. Check our church calendar for upcoming events.
Finally, Cashie maintains a benevolence fund to support those in times of crisis. We also enjoy supporting local causes such as the Special Olympics of North Carolina and the Non-Denominational food pantry on King Street.
